Working from home – the ugly truth

I’ve been working from home for years. Here’s what I’ve learned.

Don’t believe the hype, working from home is not easy, specially if you have kids and the schools are closed because of a pandemic.

Not everybody has the will power and discipline to work from home. With so many distractions and the comfort of ones home, it’s very hard to focus and do anything.

If you’ve never done it before, you’ll be surprised how much energy it takes to actually accomplish basic tasks.

It becomes almost impossible if you don’t have a spare room to do your work. And let’s be real, not everybody has a spare room.

You might think that this is a negative post about how hard it is to work from home, but it’s not.

It’s just a real talk about how difficult it can be – specially if you have kids.

Because of the pandemic my wife now works from home too, meaning we both need to focus and get things done.

Which brings me to my next point, working from home is about accomplishing task and getting results.

It’s not about 8 hours of sitting in front of your laptop – it is about getting results. And if you can accomplish those results in 4 hours instead of 8, then you are half way there.
