3 Secrets to Making Money Selling Stock Music

Selling your stock music on libraries like Audiojungle and Pond5 is one of the best ways to earn money as a musician, producer or composer.

The 3 secret to making money selling stock music comes down to:
  1. Having your music on non-exclusive libraries.
  2. Making alternative edits of your tracks.
  3. Focus on your strengths.

Having your music on non-exclusive libraries will increase your revenue because your are selling the same music tracks in different places at the same time. This will also help compensate for the lack of sales when one of your accounts is performing badly.

Making alternative edits of your music tracks is a great way to increase sales. For example, you could sell individual edits on Pond5 and make extra income from them. In fact I sell more edits than the full versions of my tracks.

I also price my edits the same as the full version, so I still make the same revenue regardless of what the customer buys.

The alternative edits that you should have are as follows:

  1. Full version
  2. 60 sec.
  3. 30 sec.
  4. 15 sec.
  5. Sting
  6. Bumper
  7. Seamless loop
  8. Drum and Bass
  9. Bed Version

You want to focus on your strengths as a producer and composer because it will be easier for you to shine in a very competitive marketplace, and you can become the go-to person for a particular genre or style of music.

For example, I am a guitar player. So all of my compositions feature the guitar as the main instrument. Some of my best sellers are acoustic/folk tracks.
